Our History
Details make the difference
My grandfather Francesco Parise had the very first approach to flowers’ trade after the II world War. He used to drive together with his brothers the local products from the Riviera –cut flowers and olive oil – to the North of Italy and particularly to Veneto region where he was born… they normally used to carry goods by bicycle up to Varazze (a small town close to Genoa) and then by train. On the way back they carried flour, straw’s hats and handbags in order to sell them at the local markets from Albenga to Ventimiglia.
But, definitely, it was my father Pietro Parise who really started the flower business in the early fifties developing the trade towards the North of Italy. In 1954 he had the very first contact with some Swedish wholesalers and started his export towards Scandinavia. In that period all shipping was organized by train.
His capacity and acumen brought the company to increase the business year by year and in 1970 he decided to send the very first truck to Scandinavia (supposed to be the very first one who delivered fresh cut flowers to those countries, even before the Dutch…) giving also his contribute to Interflora’s birth… Definitely, all the domestic and international flower trade’s movement was facing a fantastic spreading period…
I personally joined the company in 1988 and I must say that the main value I learned from my father and from this job during all these years is the humility and the deep respect for the people working in the fields… for all growers…
During the last 30 years I’ve been trying to increase and develop the business especially if not exclusively towards Scandinavia starting a kind of pot plants’ department too, building step by step a reasonable network of suppliers and clients who normally appreciate our already well-known standards in quality and reliability.
In order to try and keep in mind an idea of sustainability we have created in 2011 a photovoltaic system on the roof of our building helping the respect of the environment and improving our energy’s efficiency at the same time .
Finally let me express my thankfulness first and foremost to my father, a real ‘life mentor’, who died 10.07.2015 and to all those people who sadly departed but who really taught me a lot…
Let’s keep on and look for new or increasing cooperation…!!!
Kind regards
Pat Parise
